LOS ANGELES — As brilliantly as Stetson Bennett played on Monday night, there was a possibility Brock Bowers could’ve snatched the offensive MVP award in Georgia’s 65-7 win.
The Horned Frogs had no answers for the sophomore tight end, which isn’t a problem unique to TCU. Bowers makes a lot of teams look bad. His seven-catch, 152-yard performance wasn’t even a career-best, as he had 154 receiving yards in the win over Florida.
“It just kind of happened that way,” Bowers said after the game. “I just kind of played my game tonight. I just end up open sometimes. Not really much else.”
Had TCU elected to make the game competitive, maybe Bowers gets over 200 yards receiving on the night. His final reception came with 10:52 remaining in the third quarter. Bowers ran past his defender at the line, then artfully boxed him out as if he were Dennis Rodman snatching a rebound to give Georgia a 45-7 lead.
