UGA Police: bomb threat suspect identified

Online hoax from out of state

Police at the University of Georgia say they’ve identified an out-of-state suspect believed responsible for a Wednesday bomb threat that was posted on social media. UGA Campus Police say there was never any credible threat to the University.

A bomb threat was posted to an online chat forum earlier today regarding the University of Georgia. UGA Police do not believe this to be is a credible threat. UGAPD have linked the post to a computer address in another state, and police in that state are assisting us in the investigation. We will inform you should there be further developments.

The University of Georgia Police Department, working with investigators from another state, have identified a potential out-of-state suspect in connection with a bomb threat hoax posted on social media earlier today. Other agencies are assisting in this ongoing investigation. There are no indications that there was ever any actual threat posed to the UGA community.
