According to CBS News, Royal Caribbean announced Tuesday that is accepting reservations for its new Icon of the Seas, a 251,000-ton ship set to begin its debut voyage on Jan. 27, 2024. The company said the massive vessel, which will depart from Miami on seven-day vacations in the western or eastern Caribbean, can carry almost 10,000 people, including 7,600 passengers.

“The first Icon Class ship will be the travel industry’s first-of-its-kind combination of the best of every vacation,” Royal Caribbean said in a news release. “From the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure, with Icon, every kind of family and adventurer can experience their version of the ultimate family vacation.”

The Icon boasts “the largest waterpark at sea” with six slides, including the 46-foot-tall Frightening Bolt, the release said. The ship also features seven pools and 18 guest decks, according to CBS News and Royal Caribbean.

Although prices vary widely depending on cabin location, itinerary and departure date, Royal Caribbean’s website on Wednesday listed bookings beginning at $998 per person.

Royal Caribbean’s announcement came three months after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ended its COVID-19 monitoring program for cruise ships. Visit the company’s website to learn more about its current COVID-19 policies.
