More than 43,000 Lexmark specialty printers were recalled, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday.
A metal part inside the MS725dvn and MX725adve printers can come off and could cause a fire. The model number can be found on the printer’s top cover and door.
The printers are used to print on paper, vinyl signs, banners and other plastics. They were sold online through Lexmark, CDW Logistics, Tech Data Product Management and Insight Direct USA from June 2018 to November 2024 for between $1,000 and $4,200.
If you have the recalled printer, you are told to stop using it and contact the company to get a free repair part that snaps into the rear access panel.
Lexmark said it had two reports of the printers overheating, one of which caught fire, the CPSC said.
Contact Lexmark at 866-470-1574 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., by email or online if you have any questions.
