A familiar name is poised to revive two fan-favorite animated series.
Craig McCracken, the Emmy-winning creator of “The Powerpuff Girls” and “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,” has partnered with Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe to reboot the popular cartoons, Deadline reported.
According to Variety, “The Powerpuff Girls” reboot will revisit the adventures of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, while “Foster’s Home” will introduce a new cast of imaginary friends targeting preschoolers.
McCracken, who began his career at Hanna-Barbera Cartoons in 1992, also created Disney’s “Wander Over Yonder” and Netflix’s “Kid Cosmic,” the entertainment news outlet reported.
“The Hanna-Barbera homecoming of Craig was an opportunity we could not pass up,” Sam Register, president of Warner Bros.’ Cartoon Network Studios, said in a prepared statement.
“Along with his unparalleled sense of fun and imagination, he’s bringing two of his greatest works in ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ and ‘Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,’ and we are so excited for these characters to be a part of the new legacy taking shape at the studio,” he added.
According to Deadline, “The Powerpuff Girls” debuted on Cartoon Network in 1998, and won two Emmy Awards and numerous other animation honors throughout its 78-episode run. Meanwhile, “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” ran for six seasons, also on Cartoon Network, earning six Emmy wins between 2004 and 2009, Deadline reported.
