Georgia Senator David Perdue toured Northeast Georgia Medical Center Thursday, getting a first-hand look at how the hospital in Gainesville is handling the coronavirus pandemic. Hall County has been a coronavirus hot spot for northeast Georgia.

“Our healthcare workers are on the frontlines of this crisis and are essential in our fight against COVID-19,” said Senator Perdue. “Early on, NGHS created a Coronavirus Task Force with leaders from across the system to begin preparing for COVID-19. Throughout this crisis, they have reacted quickly and adjusted their operations to ensure their patients receive the care they need. It was an honor to visit Northeast Georgia Health System today and hear directly about their response efforts. I am extremely proud of NGHS’ work to safeguard the health of their local community.”

“We appreciate the support we’ve received from Senator Perdue and all of our other federal, state and local elected officials during the pandemic, said Carol Burrell, NGHS President & CEO. “Their willingness to visit the frontlines to learn more about what our healthcare workers and patients are experiencing helps reinforce the urgency of our requests and humanize what we’re all dealing with.”
