The Oconee County High School Warriors were edged out on Wednesday by the Pierce County Bears in the 3-A GHSA State Championship football game in Atlanta.
A defensive battle the entire game saw the Warriors and the Bears to go overtime tied at seven. An interception thrown by Oconee County on the first play of overtime, and then a touchdown run by Pierce County on the very next play gave the Bears the Championship by the score of 13-7.
Oconee County finishes the season as runners-up in the GHSA State Playoffs for the second-consecutive year.
