The National Transportation Safety Board is looking to see if weather might have played a role in an April plane crash in Oconee County. Two people from Michigan—husband and wife Robert and Sandra Denton—were killed when their plane went down off Government Station Road on April 26. The Cessna was flying out of Florida and heading for Winder Barrow Airport at the time of the deadly crash.
Funeral for Dr. Lionel Meadows is set for 1 o’clock this afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Toccoa. The 54 year-old Meadows, who lived in Clarkesville and worked as a physician in Commerce, was killed in a plane crash in Polk County Tennessee. He was the only person on board the Cessna that went down in a storm last weekend. He was flying from South Bend Indiana to the Jackson County airport in Jefferson. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
