They closed in Athens earlier this year, with as-yet unrealized plans to open in Oconee County: now comes word that a Varsity restaurant will open in Floyd County, in an as-yet undisclosed location within the city limits of Rome.

From WSB TV...

The Varsity is a step closer to opening a new location serving folks in Rome, Georgia.

The city is keeping the exact location secret for the time being but the restaurant expects to close on the property in February.

The Varsity announced two other locations earlier this year after it closed its location on West Broad Street in Athens.

The two new locations will be in Athens and in Bethlehem. The new location in Athens will be on Parkway Boulevard and the Bethlehem location will be at the Gateway at University Parkway.

“Thank you to our customers, team members and the Athens community for your support. We look forward to serving the Athens and Bethlehem communities for years to come!” The Varsity posted on Instagram.

The hot dog and burger joint is a metro Atlanta mainstay, first opened in 1928.
