Two killed in plane crash in Oconee Co

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office now says two people were killed in the Wednesday afternoon crash of a small plane that went down off Government Station Road near Watkinsville. The plane—a Cessna—was flying out of Florida. The names of the victims have not yet been released, and there is no word on what caused the plane to crash. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.

Oconee officials are investigating after a plane went down Wednesday afternoon.

The Oconee Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a plane crashed in the area of Government Station Road just before 3 p.m.

Deputies did not say what caused the plane to go down.

Oconee authorities confirmed it was a deadly single-engine plane crash.

The NTSB and FAA are investigating.
