Two Athens men are arrested and accused of illegally dumping tires in Oglethorpe County. More than 1,000 tires were found in a rural area near Winterville. Albert Faust and Anthony Mattox are facing charges that include littering on private property.

“I would like to say good job to Code Enforcement Officer Josh Robinson. He was investigating a recent tire dump in our county of more than 1000 tires. He along with investigators from the Sheriff's Office were able to connect the dump with two individuals from an Athens' Area Tire Store. I asked Robinson to go and personally make the arrest with the Deputies. I wanted him to deliver the message that Oglethorpe County is not the place to dump anymore. When he made the arrest, one of the subjects had a posses ion with intent amount of pain pills and crack cocaine. I think they got the message. Good job.”
