Two teens have been hospitalized after deputies say they crashed a stolen car during a chase. Another car also crashed during the chase.
The two crashes happened off Pleasant Hill Trace and Pleasant Hill Road in DeKalb County early Wednesday morning, but the chase started in Walton County.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said they spotted a Chevrolet Aveo reported stolen out of Loganville on Ga. 20. A deputy tried to pull the car off but the driver took off. As the chase started, a deputy saw a red Hyundai chasing with the Aveo.
Deputies learned the Hyundai had been stolen in Gwinnett County the night before.
The sheriff’s office said the deputy lost contact with the Aveo, but continued after the Hyundai. The driver of that car crashed into a telephone pole and escaped on food. It is unclear if anyone else was inside that vehicle.
Deputies later found the Aveo went off the road into the woods when it crashed into a tree and power pole and caught on fire. The sheriff’s office says two teens inside the car were trapped.
Deputies pulled the teens out of the car by busting the windows out. They were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. No deputies were hurt.
