Police receive new leads after releasing sketch of woman found beaten to death inside vacant home

EAST POLICE, Ga. — East Point police tell Channel 2 Action News that they have received numerous leads as they work to identify a teenager found beaten to death on the side of a vacant house.

She’s believed to be between 14- and 17-years-old.

Meanwhile, people throughout the Ben Hill community told Channel 2 Action News that they want to know the identity of the teen, and who killed her.

James Parker said he didn’t know the teenager whose badly beaten body was found on the side of a vacant house on Ben Hill Road near where he lives.

“I got little cousins that age,” Parker said.

But he still feels anger over her mysterious death.

“I hope they find him and bring him to justice,” Parker said.

East Point police say a passerby first saw the partially nude teen Saturday around noon.

Detectives say they’ve been working around the clock to identify her.

“We start our workday working on this case and we finish the day working on this case. It’s all day. It’s nonstop,” said East Point Police Det. LaKeisha Watts.

Officers say they’ve received numerous tips since releasing a sketch developed by Georgia Bureau of Investigation forensic artist Kelly Lawson.

“We are following up on every lead that we receive,” Watts said.

People are sending photos thinking their loved one could be the victim.

“We are attempting to match each picture that we are sent. And we are doing extensive research on each lead that we receive because we do want to find out who this young girl is,” Watts said.

The victim had on a gold necklace with the numbers “2005″ on it. She also had on an anklet with the word “Wixked” spelled out.

Detectives hope someone will recognize the jewelry.

“Maybe it was a friend she was with when she purchased it. Maybe her parents purchased it for her,” Watt said.

Parker wants her identified just as badly as police.

“I just hope they get to the bottom of this,” Parker said.

The city of East Point said it is also cracking down on abandoned and unsecured homes after this incident.

If you know anything about who the girl may be, East Point police ask that you contact them.

You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 if you would like to remain anonymous.
