Scott Underwood will be laid to rest after a 1 o’clock funeral at the Prince Avenue Baptist Church. The 50 year-old Lieutenant in the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office was killed in an accident that happened one week ago today at his home in Farmington. Underwood leaves behind a wife and two sons.

Lt. Scott Matthew Underwood, 50, of Farmington, GA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Scott was born January 30, 1973, to Jerry and Janett Underwood of Farmington, GA.

Scott was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his family and working in his beautiful yard. Scott had a genuine passion for his work in law enforcement. He spent 21 years of service with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors include his wife, Tracy Underwood; sons, Ethan and Evan, Farmington, GA; daughter, Elizabeth Benyshek, Hawaii; parents, Jerry and Janett Underwood, Farmington, GA; brother, Clint (Nichole), Bishop, GA; grandmother, Margaret Underwood, Dawsonville, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, T M Underwood, Newt Phelps, and Rosalie Phelps Greene.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Private interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery.
