School briefs: state School Supt visits, Madison Supt plans retirement

State School Superintendent Richard Woods made a Monday swing into Athens, visiting schools in Clarke and Oconee counties.

Oconee County School Superintendent Jason Branch holds what’s being called a Community Engagement session. It’s set for 6 o’clock this evening at the Oconee County Civic Center.

Michael Williams sets the date for his retirement: Williams tells the School Board in Danielsville he will end his tenure as Madison County School Superintendent at the end of the current school year. That’s June 1 of next year.

Today is election day in Pendergrass: voters are deciding a special election between Bob Carter and Mallory Danner. The winner will fill a seat on the Pendergrass City Council.
