The Friends of Athens-Clarke County Library will host the library’s annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 3, from 10 am to 1 pm, to celebrate the beginning of summer and kickoff Summer Reading!
Come to the library for a free morning of fun for all ages! Family Fun Day will include lots of free activities presented by local Athens businesses and organizations, plus puppet show performances by Lee Bryan “That Puppet Guy.”
Activities will include: craft hats with Little Athens, Big Blue blocks with Recess, crafts with KA Artist Shop, Wildlife Critters Petting Zoo, Sandy Creek Nature Center wildlife encounters, Athens Forest Kindergarten, Athens-Clarke County Fire Department Touch-A-Truck, and puppet making with the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts. The Brella Art Truck and Kona Ice will also be on hand!
Lee Bryan “That Puppet Guy” will perform a puppet show, Travelin’ Tales, at 10:30 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm.
Families can also enjoy bubbles, sidewalk chalk and free popcorn. Make friendship bracelets in the Teen Department, and tour the Heritage Room on the second floor to learn about local history and genealogy resources.
In addition to all the great activities, attendees of Family Fun Day will be able to sign up for Summer Reading. This year’s theme is “All Together Now.” No matter what your age, you can participate in Summer Reading! Reading logs and more information will be available throughout the day.
