Rivian says it will delay by a year production of a new crossover that will be manufactured at the $5 billion production facility that is planned for two thousand acres on the Morgan-Walton county line. The company says supply chain disruptions are among the factors in the delay.

Rivian is once again holding back production of its new crossover electric vehicles set to be made in Georgia.
While the startup vehicle maker plans to build a five billion dollar plant in Morgan County east of Atlanta, company officials now say they plan to launch the R2 platform in 2026 after delaying the rollout from 2024 to 2025. The AJC reports it’s due to supply chain and production issues and the challenging economy. Rivian says it remains committed to building the plant with the expectation of employing 7500, despite a lawsuit filed by five Georgians who live near the proposed site.
