Police investigating officer involved shooting in Snellville

A quiet Snellville neighborhood became the scene of an officer-involved shooting.

Very little is known about the man’s identity, but Gwinnett police Sergeant Collin Flynn says the confrontation with police began after officers got a 911 call about an argument at a home on Holland Drive.

Neighbors reported four or five shots fired and someone screaming. When police arrived, the man came out of the home armed with a gun.

“Officers immediately identified themselves to that suspect,” Flynn said.

Flynn said that is when the man pointed the gun at an officer.

“The suspect in this case did not fire a shot,” Flynn said. “He pointed the gun at the officer and the officer fired one shot.”lynn

Flynn said officers rushed to help the man, and he is in stable condition now at the hospital. Investigators at the scene on Bethany Church Road trying to figure out what led to figure out what led to the initial argument, and the relationship between the suspect and the others inside the home.

Police say they also expect to release the suspect’s name later today. He will face charges once he is released from the hospital.

No officers were hurt.
