Oconee Co students ace ACT

The Oconee County School Superintendent's Office says Oconee County high school students have compiled the highest composite ACT score in school district history, compiling a 24.2 on the test designed to assess readiness for college.

Oconee County Schools has earned an average ACT composite score of 24.2 for the 2018 testing period, the highest in district history. Students in Oconee County regularly achieve in the top tier on state and national assessments, once again demonstrating preparation to achieve at the college level.

“I offer my congratulations and appreciation to our students, teachers, and community for their tremendous efforts, which resulted in our district reaching its highest-ever levels of ACT achievement,” said Superintendent Jason Branch. “These scores are a reflection of years of classroom excellence, and we look forward to seeing these students excel even more as they transition to the world of college and career.”

The ACT college readiness assessment is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions in the United States produced by ACT. Students are assessed in the areas of English, mathematics, reading, and science. For 2018, 339 OCS students participated in the ACT assessment, up from 326 last year.
