Oconee high school students post high scores on ACT exams

Students at Oconee County’s two high schools—Oconee and North Oconee—have compiled the fourth highest ACT score results in the state, earning a composite score of 23.8 for the 2022 testing period, well above state and national averages.

Oconee County Schools has earned an average ACT composite score of 23.8 for the 2022 testing period, well above state and national averages. OCS achieved the highest ACT score in Northeast Georgia and is the only system in the region ranked in the state’s top 5.

“Congratulations to our students for demonstrating sustained excellence and continuous improvement in both K-12 achievement and preparedness to succeed in post-secondary experiences,” said Superintendent Jason L. Branch.  “Our nationally-competitive ACT scores are a reflection of the hard work of our recent graduates, current students, their parents, and world class K-12 teachers.”

The ACT college readiness assessment is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions in the United States produced by ACT. Students are assessed in the areas of English, mathematics, reading, and science.

The average national composite score for 2022 is 19.8.
