John Nesbit of Oconee County High School and Andy Chen, Anyi Lin, and Aaron Yang of North Oconee High School have been named the STAR Students for Oconee County Schools for 2024. The STAR Program recognizes seniors who have the highest SAT score in their graduating class.

Nesbit, Chen, Lin, and Yang chose as their STAR Teachers Jacob Forrester, Scott Smith, Matthew Kelley, and Scott Thompson, respectively.

“John, Andy, Anyi, and Aaron are to be commended for this exceptional accomplishment,” Superintendent Jason L. Branch said. “Their principals and I are proud of their performance on the SAT, but also of their passion for learning, their leadership, and their diligence at the high schools. They are shining examples within the Oconee County Schools community. Mr. Forrester, Mr. Smith, Mr. Kelley, and Mr. Thompson are to be saluted as well. They have made a tremendous impact on our STAR Students as well as on many, many others. We congratulate these eight stellar representatives of our school system.”
