Oconee Co schools land top spots in US News & World Report ranking

U.S. News and World Report magazine names eight Oconee County schools in its 2024 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings. The magazine cites Colham Ferry, Dove Creek, High Shoals, Malcom Bridge, Oconee County, and Rocky Branch elementary schools, along with Malcom Bridge and Oconee County middle schools as ranking in the top forty percent in the state.

U.S. News has selected eight Oconee County schools for its 2024 Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings.

On Tuesday, U.S. News cited Colham Ferry Elementary, Dove Creek Elementary, High Shoals Elementary, Malcom Bridge Elementary, Oconee County Elementary, Rocky Branch Elementary, Malcom Bridge Middle, and Oconee County Middle for placing among the 40 percent in the state.

Schools were assessed by U.S. News on their pupils’ proficiencies in mathematics and reading as measured by state assessment tests. Half of the ranking formula was the results; the other half was the results in the context of socioeconomic demographics. All data for the rankings are from third-party sources, including the U.S. Department of Education.
