The state Department of Education says Oconee and North Oconee high schools posted a combined four-year graduation rate of 96.8 percent. That’s the highest figure in the state for school systems with 500 or more graduates. North Oconee High School led the way with a 98.6 percent graduation rate; Oconee High checked in at 94.7. The statewide rate was just over 84 percent.

Oconee County Schools’ four-year graduation rate for 2023 was 96.8 percent, according to an announcement Tuesday by the Georgia Department of Education.
“The Class of 2023 is to be commended for its 96.8 percent graduation rate,” Superintendent Jason L. Branch said. “We are extremely proud of these seniors, and we are grateful to the families, K-12 teachers, support staff, and leaders for their support. The graduation rate validates the hard work, perseverance, and dedication demonstrated by our seniors.”
OCS held the state’s highest figure for systems with 500 or more graduates as well as the No. 1 rate in Northeast Georgia.
North Oconee High School recorded a graduation rate of 98.6 percent and Oconee County High School posted a figure of 94.7 percent.
Georgia’s graduation rate landed at an all-time high of 84.4 percent since the state began using the adjusted cohort calculation now required by federal law. Forty-three Georgia districts recorded rates of 95 percent or greater, while 107 posted rates of 90 percent or better.
