Oconee BOE named “exemplary”

The Oconee County Board of Education has been awarded Exemplary Board status for 2023 by the Georgia School Boards Association. Oconee County’s School Board has earned Exemplary Board recognition from the GSBA each year since 2015.

The Oconee County Board of Education has been awarded Exemplary Board status for 2023 by the Georgia School Boards Association.

The Oconee County Board of Education is made up of Chair Kim Argo, Vice Chair Amy Parrish, Tim Burgess, Ryan Hammock, and Michael Ransom. Oconee County has earned Exemplary Board recognition from the GSBA each year since 2015, including Governance Team of the Year in 2020.

“Oconee County is extremely fortunate to have a Board of Education that prioritizes students and teachers,” Superintendent Jason L. Branch said. “The Board’s strong governance fosters a culture that advances all facets of learning and achievement. The members work collectively and individually to provide the district unwavering leadership and support.”

“We are thrilled to showcase the achievements of our boards of education throughout the year. Your team’s hard work and dedication create a culture of good governance and student success across the state,” the GSBA press release read.

The Oconee County Board of Education will be honored formally at the Georgia School Boards Association/Georgia School Superintendents Association Annual Conference in Atlanta on Dec. 1.
