NTSB releases preliminary report on Lake Hartwell plane crash

The National Transportation Safety Board says the pilot who was killed when he crashed his plane into Lake Hartwell was having problems with the direction indicators on his twin-engine aircraft. Todd Carroll was 55 years old, from Florida. He died when his plane plunged into Lake Hartwell last month.

The report says Carrell attempted multiple landings at the Anderson Regional Airport but was unable to land the plane and told air traffic controllers he was having an issue with his gyros.

The NTSB investigation into the September crash is ongoing.
