With three days left in the early voting period, there are new places to cast early ballots in Athens: along with the Elections Office on Washington Street, there are early voting locations at City Hall, the library on Baxter Street, the Miriam Moore Community Center on McKinley Drive, and the Cooperative Extension offices on Cleveland Road. Early voting ends tomorrow. Election day is next Tuesday, with Athens-Clarke County voters setting a sales tax referendum. There are municipal elections in Winterville and Watkinsville. Candidates in the Winterville elections met in a forum last night.
As the third and final week of early voting hits its mid-point, voters in Franklin County get a look at the new voting machines that will be in use statewide beginning next year. The new touchscreen machines with the paper backups were on display Tuesday in Carnesville.
