NE Ga police blotter: Winder man sentenced in shooting, Elberton teen arrested with gun at school

A Barrow County man gets a 25-year prison sentence, his punishment for shooting and wounding two women three years ago: 30 year-old Ralph Jones of Winder pleaded guilty in federal court in a case that was investigated by the FBI and police in Winder.

The Elbert County School District says a 16 year-old student was arrested after a shotgun was found in a vehicle in the parking lot at Elbert County High School. The School District’s Police Chief says the unloaded gun was apparently accidentally left in the vehicle after the unnamed student went hunting. The District says the student is facing a one-year suspension.

The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of the two people killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Route 365 in Hall County: the driver was 33 year-old George Curtis from Greensboro North Carolina; his passenger was 29 year-old Anne Langston of Lula.

A 53 year-old woman is dead after police say she was struck by a car in the parking lot of a Wal Mart in Loganville. The woman has been identified as Monica Boti, 53 years old, from Buford. A Loganville Police investigation is ongoing.
