A Madison County woman is facing felony theft charges: Melissa Tolbert is 42 years old, from Danielsville. The GBI says she stole money from a bank account held by the state Constitutional Officers Association. Tolbert worked for the Association until this past June, leaving that job to become the Madison County Finance Director.
A Barrow County man is in the Barrow County jail: Martin Smith is 54 years old, from Winder. He’s facing child pornography charges.
The Sheriff’s Office in Gainesville is investigating the death of a 60 year-old man who was killed at a homeless camp in Hall County. It happened over the weekend.
One person was hospitalized after a weekend house fire in Hall County: the blaze that burned the basement of a home in Gainesville sent the victim to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
