NE Ga police blotter: homeless encampment operator convicted, motorcycle rider killed

Charles Hardy, director of the Athens-Clarke County government sanctioned homeless encampment on Barber Street, will pay a $14 hundred fine and serve two years on probation: Hardy was found guilty in court in Athens, convicted this week on the misdemeanor battery charges that were leveled by a woman who reported an incident she says happened last summer.

There are drug charges for a Royston man. 48 year-old David Dutton was booked into the Franklin County jail after allegedly dealing in prescription pills. Investigators in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office say they found more than 50 Oxycodone pills after serving a search warrant at Dutton’s home in Royston.

A Hall County man gets four months behind bars, his punishment for leaving the scene of an accident that injured three people, one of them a baby. Police say Rigoberto Colin was DUI at the time of the 2021 car crash in Gainesville.

A suspect in a shooting that happened in January in Hall County has been arrested in Texas. Guillermo Martinez is charged in a shooting at a shopping center in Gainesville, one that left two men wounded. The 43 year-old Martinez was arrested in Houston, returned to Gainesville, and is now being held without bond in the Hall County jail.

A man from Barrow County is killed in a motorcycle crash in Forsyth County. Michael Ramey was 56 years old, from Auburn. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office say the wreck happened on Buford Dam Road in Cumming. The driver of the truck was not injured. *
