NE Ga police blotter: child molestation arrest in Madison Co, gun on campus in Elberton

A man from Kentucky is arrested on child molestation allegations in Madison County. The Sheriff’s Office in Danielsville says charges against 62 year-old Marty Fields involve a young girl in Ila.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect was taken into custody after a social media threat made earlier this week, a threat aimed at Carver Middle School in Monroe.

The principal at Elbert County Middle School has released a statement after a student was found with a gun on the campus of the school in Elberton. Principal Donna Baker says it was a tip from another student that led to the discovery of the gun, which was in a student’s backpack. That student was taken into custody.

A grand jury in Hartwell hands up indictments in the case of Patrick Rickman, who faces a vehicular homicide charge after a January crash in Hart County: Rickman was allegedly DUI when his vehicle struck a pedestrian. Willie Berryman was killed in the wreck in Hartwell.
