There is an ongoing homicide investigation in Franklin County, where a man was found shot to death inside a pickup truck on Highway 106 near the Madison County line. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says the man was from Sarasota Florida.
A Hart County man gets ten years’ probation but avoids prison time in an animal cruelty case. Steve Whitfield was arrested two years ago at his home in Hartwell, where dogs and cats were found to be living in deplorable conditions.
Deputies in Hall County are investigating after a gunshot is fired into a church. A glass door at the church in Gainesville was broken. No injuries were reported.
A man from Nebraska is killed in a single-vehicle crash in Rabun County. 40 year-old Douglas Ronca, from North Platte Nebraska, was a passenger in a vehicle that wrecked on Georgia Highway 2 near Dick’s Creek in Rabun County. The driver, his wife, is facing charges that include second degree vehicular homicide.
