NE Ga police blotter: Barrow Co man injured in Clayton Co, Hall Co teen wounded in shooting

Police in Clayton County are investigating after a man from Barrow County is found badly injured laying in the middle of a road in Clayton County: it’s unclear whether he was assaulted or hit by a car. The man is hospitalized at Grady.

Christopher Vargas-Zayas gets a life sentence: a Hall County judge handed down the punishment for the man convicted in the shooting death of his girlfriend. Carly Andrews was shot and killed three years ago in Gainesville.

A man from Flowery Branch is killed in a crash on Spout Springs Road in Hall County: the Georgia State Patrol says Mark Cohen was 54 years old.

A shooting is under investigation in Oakwood, where a teenager shot and wounded himself: Oakwood Police say the apparently accidental shooting happened at the window of a drive-through restaurant in Hall County. They say his injuries are not life-threatening.

There were no injuries in a Monday afternoon school bus accident in Rabun County: the Georgia State Patrol says the driver of the car that hit the bus on US Highway 76, a 76 year-old man from Clayton, will face a DUI charge.
