NE Ga police blotter: animal cruelty in Athens, murder-suicide in Oconee Co

Athens-Clarke County Police charge a 48 year-old Athens woman with animal cruelty: she’s accused of tossing a dog out of a car window on the Highway 10 Loop. She’s also facing a DUI charge in the incident, which happened on the Loop near Olympic Drive. Witnesses tell police the dog was able to walk away.

The investigation continues, but the Sheriff’s Office in Watkinsville says this week’s shooting deaths of a father and his son appear to have been a case of murder-suicide. 68 year-old Allen Powers is believed to have shot his 37 year-old son, William Breedlove, and then turned his gun on himself. It happened at a home on Colham Ferry Road in Oconee County. There is no word on a motive.

A woman was booked into the Hall County jail after a car crash in Oakwood. Jennifer Ramirez is 37 years old, from Oakwood. She was wanted an outstanding warrant before the wreck that injured four people, two of them children.
