Today begins the second week of early voting in the race to fill the seat that opened with last September’s resignation of former Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Mariah Parker.
Early voting locations include the Elections Office on Washington Street, the Library on Baxter Street, and the Miriam Moore Community Center on McKinley Drive. Former Commissioner Melissa Link and former Clarke County School Board member Kirrena Gallagher are the candidates in the District 2 election that wraps up on March 21.
Early voting continues in Hartwell, where Hart County voters are deciding the fate of a special purposes local option sales tax. The ESPLOST is designed to generate $18 million for school infrastructure projects in schools in Hart County.
