Missing UGA runner returns home, ending search

byron grogan

University of Georgia student Byron Grogan returned home safe about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies. Deputies are now interviewing Grogan to determine “the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.”

Grogan left for a run at Chattahoochee Pointe Park around 9 o’clock Monday night, his family told Forsyth County deputies.

His car was found abandoned near the Chattahoochee River, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The Forsyth sheriff’s office and fire department led the search at the park Tuesday, with help from the U.S. Park Service and the Johns Creek and Gwinnett County fire departments. The Georgia State Patrol assisted the search from the air.
