The Georgia Department of Public Health says Athens-Clarke County now has 116 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with the death toll holding steady from Tuesday at 13.

Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz says there will be a virtual town hall meeting this evening, an on-line session set for 6 o’clock, linking from the Mayor’s page on the Athens-Clarke County Government website. Mayor Girtz says he and Athens-Clarke County Manager Blaine Williams will update local efforts in the ongoing fight against coronavirus.

The University of Georgia says Earth Day observances that had been scheduled for today will instead take place on-line on various UGA websites and social media platforms. Actual in-person Earth Day activities are canceled because of concerns about coronavirus.  

The University of Georgia says today's scheduled meeting of the University Council has been canceled: what would have been the last Council meeting of the academic year is another University casualty of coronavirus. 

They will meet remotely, but they will meet: the Athens-Clarke County Board of Assessors meets at 5 o'clock this afternoon. Today's session is, like almost all Athens-Clarke County government meetings, taking place on-line because of concerns about coronavirus.
