Local government calendar includes meetings in Danielsville, Winder

The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections, gearing up for public hearings on polling precinct locations that will be held later this month, meets this afternoon in Athens. It’s a 4:30 session at the Government Building on Dougherty Street.

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners are on a bit of a summer break: after last week’s adoption of an Athens-Clarke County budget, a Mayor and Commission work session that had been scheduled for today has been canceled.

The Madison County School Board meets, 7 o’clock this evening in Danielsville.

This evening’s Barrow County Commission meeting gets underway at 6 o’clock at the Historic Courthouse in Winder.

They’re expected to begin clearing ground in Hartwell within the next month: the City Council in Hartwell has signed off on plans for a new station for the Hartwell Fire Department. It will come with a price tag of more than $5 million.

The Hall County School Board, meeting last night in Gainesville, has signed off on a $340 million Hall County Schools budget. The spending plan includes more than $23 million for school staff salary increases. Final budget adoption is set for June 26 in Gainesville.
