Local government calendar includes Elections Board retreat, IDA meetings

The Athens-Clarke County Elections Board meets in an afternoon retreat, setting goals for upcoming election cycles at the Snipes Water Resources building on Barber Street in Athens. Athens-Clarke County voters will fill the unexpired term of retired Clerk of Court Beverly Logan on November 7, while voters in Winterville will, on that same day, choose a mayor and fill a seat on the Winterville City Council.

Today marks the end of a three-day candidate qualifying period across northeast Georgia: cities around the region are gearing up for municipal elections that will take place in November, with dozens of mayoral and city council seats up for grabs.

A community forum on the unfolding Athens-Clarke County affordable housing plan is set for 6 o’clock this evening at the Library on Baxter Street in Athens.

The Oconee County Industrial Development Authority meets in a special called session, just after 9 o’clock this morning in the Administrative Building on Macon Highway.

Madison County’s Industrial Development and Building Authority meets this morning, an 8 o’clock session in Danielsville.
