Local government calendar includes Commission sessions in Watkinsville, Winder

There is an afternoon meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Airport Authority: it is a 3 o’clock session at Athens-Ben Epps Airport.

The Athens in Motion Commission meets this afternoon: the Commission that is looking to enhance bicycle and pedestrian traffic in Athens meets at 4 at the Government Building on Dougherty Street.

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department says registration is now open for next month’s Rivers Alive cleanup. The annual event, in which volunteers fan out across the County to clean up local rivers and streams, is set for October 21. Registration information is on the Athens-Clarke County government website.

Watkinsville Mayor Brian Brodrick says public forums on the future of Thomas Farms are set for October 4 and 11: the city finalized late last week its $4.5 million purchase of the 100 acres of farmland off Simonton Bridge Road, with plans to turn the farm property into greenspace and recreational acreage.

This evening’s Oconee County Commission meeting is underway at 6 o’clock at the County Administrative Building on Macon Highway.

Barrow County Commissioners meet this evening: their session is underway at 6 o’clock at the Historic Courthouse in Winder.
