Local government calendar includes Commission meetings in Winder, Watkinsville

The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections met Monday to certify the results of last Tuesday’s special election, in which former Commissioner Melissa Link defeated former Clarke County School Board member Kirrena Gallagher to return to the Athens-Clarke County Commission, this time to represent District 2. Link will serve the remaining term of former Commissioner Mariah Parker, who resigned last September.

There is more bicycle talk on tap for today in Athens, with an afternoon meeting of the Athens in Motion Commission. The panel that is looking for ways to enhance bicycle and pedestrian traffic in Athens convenes a 4 o’clock session in the Government Building on Dougherty Street.

The Athens-Clarke County Airport Authority meets this afternoon, a 3 o’clock session in the Flight Center at Athens-Ben Epps Airport.

Oconee County Commissioners meet this evening: it is a 6 o’clock session at the Oconee County courthouse in Watkinsville.

This evening’s Barrow County Commission meeting is underway at 6 o’clock and takes place at the Historic Courthouse in Winder.
