Athens-Clarke County Commissioners meet in retreat today, 1 til 4 this afternoon at the Snipes Water Resources Building on Barber Street in Athens.
Watkinsville Mayor Brian Brodrick says the city will raise property taxes to help fund a $4.5 million property purchase: Brodrick announced earlier this week a deal with brothers Mark and Mitch Thomas to buy 100 acres of land off Simonton Bridge road, acreage that will become a public greenspace. He’s expecting to close on the deal by the end of the year.
Jackson County Commissioners schedule two town halls to talk about property tax assessments. The first is set for next Monday at Jackson County Ag Center in Jefferson; the second is one week from tonight at the Civic Center in Braselton.
