Local government calendar includes A-CC, Oconee Co Commission meetings

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners will begin the new year with 6 o’clock meeting at City Hall. The under-construction arena at the Classic Center is on the Commission’s business agenda, as is talk and a possible vote on the use of federal funding to help with homeless assistance programs in Athens.

City Hall says Athens Transit service, suspended for Monday’s New Year’s holiday, resumes normal operations today.

Oconee County Commissioners hold their first meeting of the new year tonight, a 6 o’clock session at the County Administrative Building on Macon Highway in Watkinsville.

Jimmy Terrell takes his oath of office today in Winder: he will be sworn in as the city’s new Mayor in a 5 o’clock ceremony at the Winder Community Center. Terrell will then preside over his first meeting of the Winder City Council. That gets underway at 6 o’clock this evening.
