The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections meets to certify the results of last Tuesday’s special election, in which former Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Melissa Link defeated former Clarke County School Board member Kirrena Gallagher to win the District 2 seat on the Athens-Clarke County Commission. This afternoon’s Elections Board meeting is set for 4 o’clock.
The precautionary quarantine continues in the dog area of the Athens-Clarke County Animal Services Adoption Center, in place until at least April 5 after this month’s discovering of parvovirus in a dog that died there. A notice on the Athens-Clarke County government website says no volunteers or visitors will be allowed in the dog area.
This evening’s Madison County Commission meeting is underway at 6 o’clock at the County Government Complex in Danielsville.
The primary and elementary schools in Commerce get a new principal: Mandy Lund takes over for Cara Lindsey, who is taking a job as coordinator of curriculum and federal programs for the school district in Commerce.
