Local government calendar includes A-CC Elections Board, Jefferson Council meetings

With the October 16 start of early voting now just three weeks away, there is a special called meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections set for 4:30 this afternoon. The Board is gearing up for November 7 elections, with City Council contests in Winterville and the race for Clerk of Courts for Athens-Clarke County to be decided.

The Oconee County School District is putting out a call for bids, trying to find a firm to provide a new Wide Area Network for the schools in and around Watkinsville. Deadline for bid submittals is October 20.

The Jefferson City Council is set to sign off on a $15.7 million city budget: the Council meets at 6 o’clock this evening at Jefferson City Hall. The Council will also set the millage rate for property owners in Jefferson.

This evening’s Madison County Commission meeting is set for 6 o’clock at the County Government Complex in Danielsville.

Franklin County Commissioners are looking for a new County Clerk: Commissioners in Carnesville have voted not to renew the contract of former Clerk Jane Brown.
