Local government calendar includes A-CC Commission retreat

Today is day one of a two-day retreat for Athens-Clarke County Commissioners: they are convening today and tomorrow at Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville.

The committee that is looking at plans for a Tax Allocation District for the eastern edge of downtown Athens holds a special called meeting today: it is underway at 9 o’clock this morning in the Government Building on Dougherty Street.

There is talk of a new city hall building for the Madison County town of Ila. Construction could take place next year.

The Jackson County School Board, meeting in Jefferson, is calling on the County’s legislative delegation to push for a higher homestead tax exemption for senior citizens. It’s a proposal that could be addressed in the legislative session that begins in January.
