Board of Assessors meets today

Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Tim Denson says he regrets sending to fellow Commissioner Mariah Parker a January text that talks about keeping conservatives off a new Athens-Clarke County Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board. The controversial texts became public earlier this week.

There is an afternoon meeting of the Athens-Clarke Board of Assessors: it’s a 4 o’clock session at City Hall in Athens.

The Tax Assessor’s Office in Morgan County is throwing a wrench into the Rivian deal, refusing to vote on a tax exemption for the company that wants to manufacture electric trucks and SUVs on two thousand acres along the Morgan-Walton County line: earlier this week a Joint Development Authority signed off on the agreement that would allow Rivian to build and create upwards of 75 hundred jobs.
