Local campaign trail includes reelection launch, retirement announcements

Clarke County Sheriff John Q. Williams launches his run for reelection with a Saturday rally in Winterville: Williams, seeking a second term to the post he won four years ago, says it kicks off at noon at the Winterville Community Center. There is already announced opposition for Williams: Tommy Dorsey in the Clarke County School District Police Department says he will run for Sheriff in this year’s election.

Helen Hewell says this is her final year as Probate Judge in Banks County. Hewell says she’s retiring at the end of the year. She’s been probate judge in Homer since 2017.

There is a reelection announcement in Gainesville, where Darla Eden says she will run for a fourth term as Hall County Tax Commissioner.

Gwinnett County state Rep Pedro Marin says this year’s legislative session will be his last: the Duluth Democrat, who was first elected in 2002, is the longest serving Latino member of the Georgia House. Marin says he will not run for reelection in November.
