Lange, Lady Dogs top Bama in OT

Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball senior forward Caliya Robinson recorded her third-straight 20-point game to lead her team to a 76-67 win Sunday night at Coleman Coliseum.

Robinson finished just one point off her career-best with a game-high 29-point effort. She also totaled 14 rebounds to tally her second-straight double-double. Redshirt-junior point guard Taja Cole dished out 10 assists to go with 11 points. It marks the fifth time this season Cole has posted double-digit assists in a game.

Georgia has now won three consecutive games and four of its last five to improve to 17-10 overall and 8-6 in the SEC.

“I am just so proud of our team,” associate head coach Karen Lange said. “To win three games in one week is not easy. This was a tough game and it took a lot of guts to come out of here with a win. We asked them today just to give us everything you’ve got, and that’s what they did. I am so proud of them.”

Georgia hit its first six shots of the game and jumped out to an early 13-8 lead. The Lady Bulldogs finished the first quarter by hitting just 2-for-9 from the field the rest of the way as Alabama led 19-18 through the first 10 minutes.

Robinson led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points and Georgia held the Crimson Tide to just two made field goals in the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs ended the period on a 7-0 run and led 34-27 at the half.

The Crimson Tide went without a field goal for close to six minutes, allowing the Lady Bulldogs to build a double-digit lead — 42-32 — with 3:27 remaining in the third quarter.

Robinson already had 20 points by the time the third period came to a close as Georgia led 49-39 going into the fourth.

After a Georgia basket, Alabama went on an 11-0 run to tie the game at 51-51. Que Morrison then hit a running layup to put her team up 53-51 with just over five minutes to go. Georgia was unable to close the deal as the game went into overtime.

In the extra period, an and-one from Robinson and two Cole baskets proved to be the difference in the win.

Up next, Georgia heads to Florida to take on the Gators at 7 p.m. ET Thursday.
