Lena Marshal has died: the Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy passed away Monday from wounds suffered in a Friday night shooting in Hoschton. The woman who shot her—43 year-old Jessica Worsham—was killed by other deputies who had responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home off Highway 124 in Hoschton. The GBI is investigating.

Lena Marshall, 49, was responding to a home in Hoschton around 9:20 p.m. when a woman fired at Marshall, critically wounding her. Marshall died Monday at around 4 p.m. Funeral arrangements have not been made yet.
A second deputy fired back, killing the shooter. She has been identified as Jessica Worsham, 43.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the people who owned the home had asked Worsham to leave.
Channel 2′s Tom Regan learned that Marshall was shot several times.
Regan talked to Randy Sutton Lt. (retired) who founded the Wounded Blue, an organization that has helped thousands of wounded and disabled officers and is now working to help Marshall’s family.
“I can’t tell you how I grieve for her family and pray she survives this,” Sutton said. “She needs all of our thoughts and prayers right now. All of the law enforcement community join us in praying for her.”
Sutton said Marshall had gotten out of law enforcement for a while, but missed protecting and serving the community.
“She missed being a part what the law enforcement community does. She wanted to get back into it, so she joined the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department,” Sutton said.
This is the 84th officer-involved shooting the GBI has investigated so far this year.
A GoFundMe account set up to help her daughter has raised more than $35,000.
A Benefit Fund has also been set up at Northeast Georgia Bank in Jefferson, Georgia.
