Athens-Clarke County election results include a reelection win for Clarke County Sheriff John Q Williams, who outpolled challenger Tommy Dorsey in Tuesday’s Democratic primary. Incumbents Melissa Link in District 2 and Carol Myers in District 8 won reelection to the Athens-Clarke County Commission, beating JJ Jacobs and Sidney Waters, respectively. Stephanie Johnson won an open seat in District 6, getting more votes than rival Rashe Malcom.

There will be a runoff for the District 2 seat on the Clarke County School Board, with incumbent Claudia Butts facing Mary Bagby. Former School Board member Kirrena Gallagher finished third in that Board of Education contest.

In a closely watched race for a seat on the Georgia Supreme Court, former Athens-Clarke County Commissioner and Georgia Congressman John Barrow lost to incumbent Justice Andrew Pinson, who ran with the backing of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.

Oconee County voters cast ballots Tuesday, giving election wins to Republican incumbent John Daniell in his bid for a third term as Oconee County Commission Chairman. Daniell defeated challenger Pam Hendrix. Mark Saxon won another term as Oconee County Commissioner. Michael Ransom was elected School Board Chair, while Adam Hammond won a three-man contest without the need for a runoff to pick up an open seat on the Oconee County Board of Education. Brock Toole won the Republican primary for Post 5 on the Oconee County BOE. And Oconee County voters gave approval to all ten ballot questions needed to extend homestead exemptions and provide some measure of property tax relief in Oconee County.

Parks White has won another term as District Attorney in a judicial circuit that includes Hart, Franklin, Elbert, Oglethorpe, and Madison counties, easily defeating former Royston Mayor David Jordan in Tuesday’s primary.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis wins in Atlanta, defeating a Democratic primary challenger in her bid to win another term as District Attorney.
